Larry is a Fink....

No, I am not referring to Mark's brother Larry. Actually, I shouldn't even write this until I have the picture to post, however, I have been feeling particularly lazy since I started working again, and it may be a few more days before I download pictures. Therefore, I will write despite the lack of photo and will post it (the picture) at a later date.

Anyhow, we had the floor torn out on Monday throughout the kitchen, hallway, living room, and dining area. There was some hardwood flooring underneath the carpet, but only in the hallway and half of the living room. The rest was just plywood. In fact, there was plywood right in front of the fireplace. (Despite the pitfalls we had with the cupboards and the counters, our flooring installation went remarkably well)!

Mark was at home when the guys were here for the tear out and installation of the floor since I was at work. He was working on the computer and told me later that he had heard laughing when the guys were working, but ignored them because he wasn't sure what they were laughing about. In fact, he tried to ignore them as best as he could and get some work done for the new class he is teaching while they were in our home. For this reason, he did not leave the office often. When they took a break, he went to spy on their progress and discovered that on the plywood in front of the fireplace was a painting. Now, keep in mind that our house was built in 1960. This painting may very well have been there since the house was originally constructed, we're not sure. On the floor, in bright blue letters was painted (very largely) "Larry is a fink". There was also a sun, a tic-tac-toe game, and a faded start accompanying Larry being a fink. The light bulb went off, and Mark now knew what the installers had been laughing at.

Needless to say, we took a picture of this "mural" for our scrapbook. I will post it for your enjoyment (and ours) soon...
