The Need for Positivity!
Usually around this time of year I start to get a little down. I blame it on the Pacific Northwest weather that this region is famous for. In fact, a couple of years back I went to the see my doctor for an explanation for my new found, frustrating lack of energy/enthusiasm. She said I was suffering from Seasonal Affect Disorder (SAD...nice acronym, right?)
Anyhow, one thing I've always known about myself is that my mood (whatever it may be) affects my day(s).
This is not always a good thing...
Therefore, I'm feeling the need to welcome as much positivity in my life right now as possible. Believe me, I know that I have A LOT to be thankful for. That has certainly never been the issue, but I do tend to focus on what I don't have and I have a tendency to compare my life to the lives of others I know (who happen to have a lot more money than us). Again, not a good thing...
So, I am making the conscious choice to be more positive. Each time I blog I want to post at least 3 positive things I've done that day/week or am feeling.
So here we go- positive thoughts/actions for today:
1. I got an extra day off work to lounge about in my jammy's with my hubby and son.
2. I ate a very healthy lunch and breakfast today.
3. I've received about 45 kisses from Jake today (those negate the fact that he puked in my hair earlier this morning...)
4. I've got some ideas about how to fix-up/decorate the office when Mom comes out in March.
....let the positivity flow!

And To Top Off A Fantastic Week....
As if my Monday-Friday wasn't bad enough, Saturday had to happen.
I was almost to the end of my 5 page paper (due Sunday), when all of a sudden, it disappeared. I had been saving it every paragraph, so its disappearance is still a mystery to me, but none the less, it vanished.
After my temper-tantrum, I sat down and retyped it. I literally spent the ENTIRE day working on this assignment.
The perfect ending to the perfect week, right?
Actually, Sunday (today) was the perfect ending for a horrible week: Little Jake started crawling! I was so happy that we both got to watch him crawl for the first time. :)
Time to baby-proof the house now.

A Week in Review
Monday: Fairly uneventful day. Worked about 8.5 hours. Took Jake to doctor for vaccine. Played with Jake. Spent about 1 hour on homework (should have spent more). Was awakened by a crying baby at 9:30pm-tended to him.
Tuesday: Still awake with crying baby at 12:30am. Finally baby fell asleep. Alarm went off at 4:45am. Slept in. Actually woke up around 5:45. Running behind. Grabbed lunch out of fridge, only to drop it. Bent over to pick dropped lunch up, heard rrriiiiiiiiipp! Yes, that's right, I split my pants! In a very depressed and hostile mood, changed clothes. Got to work 10 min. late. Had a "Fat Day" the whole day. Worked about 8.5 hours (a bit grumpily, I might add). Day care shared that Jake had a HORRIBLE day (emphasis on horrible- he refused to eat at his afternoon feeding). Played with Jake. Gave Jake a bath. Spent ZERO time on homework-too tired and moody. Went to bed around 8:30pm.
Wednesday: Fairly uneventful day. Worked about 8.5 hours in a zombie-like trance. Played with Jake. Spent about 2.5 hours on homework (really behind now). Went to bed around 9pm. Woke up to crying baby at 11:30pm.
Thursday: Still up with baby until 1am. Frustrated with this unusual behavior- decide he's either teething, or not feeling well from Monday's vaccination. Frustrated that Daddy hasn't volunteered to stay up with crying baby. Silently cursing Daddy while rocking, loving, and feeding baby. Alarm ignored. Panicky feeling when looking at clock after sleeping in. Rushing to make my 7am meeting. Get phone call in my classroom just as 5th period starts. Mark had to Jake home from day care. (He'd had 2 loose stools and the rule is baby must leave if 2 stools are loose and can not return for 24 hours). GREAAAAAT! Work about 10 hours in zombie-like trance (had to stay later than normal for a meeting, then another meeting with principal, then had to write sub notes). Play with Jake. Mark gives me a "You're a ROCK STAR wife card, and picks up dinner- guilt is setting in. Give Jake a bath. Went to bed around 9pm. Spent ZERO time on homework (anxiety setting in).
Friday: Woke up around 6:30am with baby. Played with him all day in less of a zombie-like trance. Cleaned and organized his room. Sorted through his closet, removing clothes that are too small. Gave Jake a bath. Briefly flirted with the idea of inserting workout DVD so no more pants split. Briefly think about spending some time on homework. Decide to blog instead.
Sigh.
Deep breath.
The week is over.
Hallelujiah!
