We took Jake in for his Christmas pictures over the weekend, and I must say- they are soooooo cute! The amount of rolls this boy has is ridiculously precious!! He had two different outfits for the sitting, but we didn't like how any of the pics. turned out in outfit #2... Jake decided he was done being "cute" at that point. We LOVE pictures from his first little outfit, however, and the photographer must have as well because she asked us to sign a waiver giving permission to display his portraits.
How cute is that???

A Sick Baby
Life has taken an interesting toll as of late...Jake has come down with his first cold. I took him to Urgent Care last week as he had been coughing for a few nights. They gave him a prescription for the cough, but I'm not sure it's working. Last night was the first time he slept through the night, without a 3am wake-up coughing fit, in the past 9 days. (It was heavenly).
Needless to say, with this interrupted sleep we are more tired and grumpy than usual. (Why did I volunteer to host Thanksgiving???)
I feel badly for the little guy...but he's certainly been a trooper. I think this ordeal has traumatized me way more than him.
I still need to post pictures from Halloween, but alas, another paper is screaming my name, "Emily, quite ignoring me! I'm due tomorrow!" I got an A in my last course and this current class ends December 27. I think I get a week off before the winter semester starts up in January! Hallelujah!!!

Utah Food Share
Why I am jealous of my friends and family living in Utah: The Community Food Co-op of Utah.
For $23.00 you can purchase a share. For the month of October, this share included the following items:
2 lb. pork loin roast
2 lb. split chicken breast
1 lb. lean ground beef
4 4oz. cube steaks
2 avocados
6 Golden Delicious apples
6 pears
5 bananas
1 head of cabbage
2 lb. bag of carrots
1 eggplant
3 lb. yellow onions
16 oz. lentils
1 loaf artisan wheat bread
Specific items in the share change from month to month depending on the season for fruits and vegetables. There are additional add-on's that can be purchased in addition to one or more shares. Is this not incredible? I would love the opportunity to get this much food for a measly $23.00.

The Pumpkin Patch
A week ago we took a drive on all the back roads by our home hoping to see the colorful changes that fall brings.Though we did not see as many vibrant colors as we had hoped for, the drive was still beautiful, and spending a relaxed day together as a family was pure gratification. With as much homework as I have these days, I relish the time I get to spend with Jake and Mark free of day-to-day stresses.
We stopped at our favorite organic cafe in Umpqua, ate fresh blueberry and banana chocolate chip muffins, drank hot coco, and purchased a loaf of rosemary sourdough bread to enjoy at home. We took our time and meandered the back roads, stopping only when we wanted to take a picture. It was one of those leisurely drives with no pressure for time or other commitments. It was perfect!
We decided to stop by Camp Millennium's Pumpkin Patch on our drive and begin a yearly tradition of doing this with Jake. This particular pumpkin patch is a fundraiser for children with cancer (emphasis on fundraiser...I think our pumpkin wound up costing $8.00, but at least the proceeds go to an incredibly worthy cause). There was a multitude of activities for children to partake in: punkin chunkin, train rides, carriage rides, a stroll through Santa's village and the Lollipop Forest, a maze to find the Easter Bunny, games, and food- just to name a few!
And though Jake was too young to enjoy all of the activities (okay, most of them) we've convinced ourselves he had fun anyway...after all, we did!
