...Diabetes that is, of the gestational kind. Seriously, if it can happen to me during pregnancy it will! I find it ironic that I had actually been eating better this time around and not gaining nearly the amount of weight I gained with Jake. Oh-well, I still got it.
The GOOD news: (I am trying to stay positive, after all)
*Less than 8 weeks to go. Gestational diabetes typically disappears within 6 weeks of giving birth, so this shouldn't last much longer.
*I'm learning all about foods and how to eat healthier.
*If I can manage my blood sugar levels through diet alone I won't have to give myself insulin.
The BAD news:
*I have to poke my fingers 4 times a day at very specific times.
*I had to fill 5 prescriptions in order to get all the necessary "stuff" to poke my fingers. $$$
*I have to record EVERYTHING I eat or drink on particular log sheets, note the times I ate or drank, and have to have certain servings of food per meal. For example, my snacks have to consist of one starch and one protein. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are specifically outlined as well. Do you know how boring starches are? Do you?
*I can only eat two servings of fruit per day. One at lunch and one at dinner, and absolutely NO fruit juices. What? No orange juice? No fruit at breakfast?
*I have 26 doctor appointments between now and October 1. 26!!! This is great timing with work starting again August 18. I have so much free time for 26 appointments.
*I cannot have sugar. No cakes, pies, candy, chocolate, or delicious goodness of ANY kind (unless it's the sugar-free kind, and then there are still restrictions!). Seriously, kill me now.
*I think I whine a lot more. :( I want sugar like you wouldn't believe!!!
So there you have it. Just after I post that there is no news about my pregnancy, SLAM! Does anybody wonder why I did a little happy dance when I signed consent to have my tubes tied?

That is so weird I have two friends out here who were just diagnosed with the same thing. I guess I'll just have to eat extra cake for the three of you :)
Hang in there! She'll be here before you know it. :)
