Out With The Old, In With The New

We chose to spend New Year's Eve at home this year. It was an odd decision since this was our last chance to "go out" for this event without needing to hire a babysitter. However, our priorities are changing and we simply didn't have the desire to be out and about. Instead, I took a 2 hour pregnant nap, Mark played on the computer, we brought home a pizza and rented 3 movies...we made it through 2 of them. Our evening may sound boring to you, but we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!

2008 brought about many changes in our lives. We were engaged in January, married in May, remodeled the majority of our house in August, and found out we were pregnant in October. Needless to say these changes were joyous and stressful. 2009 promises to bring changes of its own as well. For instance, I officially start grad. school on Monday and will be a grad. student for the next 2 years, ugh! This will also be the year we meet our baby. I'm sure we'll have more household updates (although they will be decorative, not structural. Afterall, we do have to decorate/paint the baby's room!) I'm also confident that 2009 will throw in a few surprises along the way :)

My reflections on 2008 inspired me to create a slide show of photos throughout the year. I've actually been working on the slide show for quite some time, however, I decided there were far too many exciting events to squeeze into one slide show. Trust me, unless I pared it down it would take up entirely too much of your viewing time and has already taken up too much of my morning (actually, it's now the afternoon). I will continue to work on it and see if I can create a condensed version for you all....but no promises! Instead, I'll leave you with a pregnant picture taken yesterday. This is currently how fat (I mean pregnant) I am...

I've been horrified with my appearance ever since I got my new wide screen monitor. On our regular monitor I didn't think I looked too wide, but this new monitor stretches my image out in all kinds of wide ways...grrr. Actually, what horrifies me more is that most of you have had wide screen monitors and have been looking at pictures of us all stretched out for far longer! Yikes...

Oh, one last thing on a completely random note...our new rug which I am in love with:

I didn't have the heart to move Daisy (who also enjoys our new rug) for the sake of my picture :)

Love the rug - as obviously Daisy does.

You look great - and besides by the time you deliver little "baby Mac" you won't care how wide you look.

We actually went to the Wizard of Oz on New Year's eve. Would have prefered my sweats and a movie, lucky girl. Of course I've never been a New Year's fan. But toast the holiday with Sprite and all is well...love lisa

You still look so tiny!

Your New Year's Eve sounds about right. Marriage and pregnancy tend to make it a little less exciting.
