Trip to the Specialists

So yesterday afternoon we headed north to see the baby specialists due to my bicornuate uterus. We drove for an hour, waited in the office for an hour, (grrr), and then had a lengthy meeting with the ultrasound tech. and doctor. We found out that we are having a boy, as you know. We also found out that I won't have to go back to see them unless something changes with my cervix.

Everything looked good and they were pleased with the development of our little guy and my insides. They still want me monitored by our local baby doctor every two weeks just to make sure nothing changes (cha-ching! This baby-making business isn't cheap!) If there are changes, we'll be heading up north again.

It was a relief to find out that we can be seen locally and that all is looking well! However, I have to admit that I was more than shocked to find out we're having a boy. Throughout my entire pregnancy, I've been inundated with girl thoughts and comments. Everyone at work thought girl, and I even had 2 friends do the needle test (both tests said girl. And yes, I realize the needle is not as accurate as the ultrasound, but it still got me thinking girl). Mark and I absolutely cannot agree on a boy's name. We had 3-4 girl names we liked, but the fight is literally on when we discuss boy names. It's a good thing we have until June to decide! Nonetheless, we can't wait to meet our little man. The due date is June 22 (one day after my 30th birthday).

I've submitted my first paper for grad. school, have done the first several assignments, and have read numerous articles and chapters from my text book. Life is becoming very, very busy.

We're headed to the coast tomorrow (Florence) for the weekend and some much needed rest and relaxation. The coast is gorgeous this time of year, especially with all the storms out on the water...
