Maternity Leave

I'm officially on maternity leave starting today. Students are attending classes as I type, but I have a whole month off with my boy. My sub is prepared, and I can be at home at ease knowing all is being taken care of.

This being said, I do realize that upon my return I will be slammed with work...all the work that I could not leave for my substitute will be mine to sort through. Grades will be due, IEP meetings will need to be held, messes will need to be straightened out- but that's a whole month away.....no need worrying about it now.

I hope to accomplish some of my tasks mentioned in my last post while I'm home this month. So far, today has been productive. We sat down to a family breakfast of french toast before Mark went off to his classroom. Jake took a nap while I showered. He even slept long enough for me to do my hair and makeup! We've had cuddle time and play time and he's back down for a nap now, which is why I can blog. I've been straightening up the house, tending to the laundry, and working on his baby book. I'm feeling quite accomplished so far on day 1 of leave! The time will go by all to quickly, so I need to make the most of it.

Mom comes to visit on Thursday and we'll get busy painting that kitchen wall. We also have plans to do some canning. I always seem to get stuff done when Mom comes to visit; she is a great motivator! Plus, it's more fun doing "to-do's" with company! We're looking forward to her visit and can't wait to show off our big boy again.

I can say big boy, because he is. It's been proven. He had his 2 month appointment on Thursday (he is actually 11 weeks old, but the pediatrician has been on vacation for 2 1/2 weeks). He weighed in at 15 lbs. 1 oz. and was 24 3/4 inches long. This places him in the 95th percentile for both height and weight! He may be big, but he's also good-natured. Seriously, I think I have the most perfect baby ever- but I'm pretty sure that every mother feels that way about her baby!

Hmm. I honestly admit that I never felt like Michael was the most perfect baby ever. He was very, very difficult. But I DID think he was the cutest.
