More Maternity Leave

Officially, it is day 3 of maternity leave. The house is half-way clean (Jake slept long enough yesterday afternoon for me to clean the bathroom, which included scrubbing the tub/shower, and all 3 bedrooms). Plus, I dusted the photos hanging in the hallway and mopped it. That just leaves the kitchen, dining room and living room for today. I won't be too disappointed if he doesn't sleep long enough for me to clean today, but if he does, I'd better do it. That way the whole house will be clean for Mom's visit and we can get down to business!

My stomach is finally feeling well enough for me to exercise. I did a pilates workout yesterday from a borrowed DVD. Naturally I chose to follow the beginner's version. What I learned: my body is not nearly flexible enough for some of the stretches. I am feeling the burn this morning!

I've been checking my work email but have remained distanced from the happenings at work. Good for me! I thought that would be challenging, but it is sooooo not! At this point, I'm afraid it's going to be all too difficult to return to work in October and leave my boy at day care. Last week his day care had an open house that we attended. We learned more about the procedures, supplies we need to bring, etc. We've chosen the day care at the high school. It came highly recommended to us by multiple sources and we like the facilities. They're letting us keep Jake at home throughout September without charging us and are still holding his slot. The only thing that eases my heart at the thought of sending him to day care is the fact that Mark is on campus. He can pop down any time he wishes to visit. He will also take him in and pick him up every day.
I hate that I have to go back to work. But, who knows, at the end of the month I may be ready....

I start another 6 credits of graduate school on Tuesday. Am I ready for the deadlines, papers, assignments, stress and frustration?? NO, but once I get this degree I will advance on the pay scale and that will make it all worth while.

Ah, maternity leave. I treasure you. I want more of you.

I'm sure he'll do fine at day care. I'm sure it's so hard though. I'm so impressed that you're exercising. You go girl!
