Why I am jealous of my friends and family living in Utah: The Community Food Co-op of Utah.
For $23.00 you can purchase a share. For the month of October, this share included the following items:
2 lb. pork loin roast
2 lb. split chicken breast
1 lb. lean ground beef
4 4oz. cube steaks
2 avocados
6 Golden Delicious apples
6 pears
5 bananas
1 head of cabbage
2 lb. bag of carrots
1 eggplant
3 lb. yellow onions
16 oz. lentils
1 loaf artisan wheat bread
Specific items in the share change from month to month depending on the season for fruits and vegetables. There are additional add-on's that can be purchased in addition to one or more shares. Is this not incredible? I would love the opportunity to get this much food for a measly $23.00.
You can place your order and pay for it online and find out information about this incredible local opportunity at www.foodco-op.net
The website provides information about the food share and how you can become involved in your community. I think they ask for a minimum lifetime donation of $5.00. The pick-up date is only once a month, but there are locations for pick-up all along the Wasatch Front.
Oh, how I wish there was a food share in my community!

I've looked into the co-op a couple of times, but have never actually gotten involved in it. But you're a great advertiser for it!
You could always start a co-op in your area. You know, with all that extra time you have between being Mommy, teaching, working on your Master's degree, being a wife, and everything else.
Or maybe not.
As you know, we tried it and have gotten others involved also. The food quality is fantastic. I look forward to November's share and volunteering at our pick-up place.
Everyone out there - it's well worth it!
I was just talking to Natalie about this the other night. UT has so many great deals. I guess it's all those crazy mormons women trying to save money for their big families.
