Halloween: I guess there is no "news" per-say regarding Halloween, but we certainly had the cutest lil' pumpkin in the patch....

Thanksgiving follows Halloween, as you all know. I hosted dinner this year for a little party of 5 plus Jake. The big news about this occasion was the fact that I stuffed my first turkey. I must have called my mom 5 or 6 times during this process to make sure I was doing it right. We had a 21 lb. turkey and not only was it heavy and awkward to work with, it was totally disgusting.
Don't get me wrong, the finished product was delicious.
However, I vow to NEVER stuff, or de-stuff a turkey again. Removing the giblets and heart (I believe it was the heart) was bad enough, but I actually had to remove the neck from inside of this thing.
I literally almost vomited.
I mean really, who eats the neck??? Is it necessary to cut off the bird's neck and then shove it back into its body cavity? And regarding the skin- I could see the individual wholes, or marks, where this turkey's feathers once resided. N.A.S.T.Y. I completely understand vegetarianism!
The biggest news about this holiday, however, involved Jacob. On Thanksgiving day, while Daddy and I were resting after all the preparations, and Jake was on the living room floor we got to see him roll over for the very first time! It was amazing to watch our little baby finally accomplish this milestone. My fear with having him in daycare has been missing all of his "firsts". I was so happy to be able to watch him roll over for the first time!!!
In between all of the holiday hustle and bustle, Mark caught a cold, Jake caught a cold, and then I caught a cold. None of us slept through the night for about a 4 week period.
Christmas break has been well-received. Having 2 weeks off has been blissful, and we don't have to report back to work until Monday :) I have finished up another semester and only have 3 more to go until I officially have my Master's. One year from now I will be finished....is it too soon to start counting down???
Jake's first Christmas was absolutely precious. He attempted to open some packages, but was much more interested in putting the torn wrapping paper into his mouth. He was very, very cute and we did everything possible to make our first Christmas together as a family memorable in every way...
The pictures can speak for themselves-
