Sophia and I had been in Eugene shopping all day (cashing in gift cards from Christmas to Macy's, Ann Taylor, and White House Black Market) and returned home in time to order our traditional pizza.
After dinner we had both kids upstairs in bed by 8:30 which gave Mark and I plenty of time to catch up on season four of Dexter (yes, we are that far behind). We enjoyed a night of rest, relaxation, pizza, and t.v.
Prior to having babies we used to go to the show at the casino every New Year's Eve, but priorities have changed and we'd rather be home with the family. I was particularly glad to be home last night when we opened the front door around 10pm to discover big, puffy, snowflakes falling from the sky blanketing our neighborhood in the most beautiful white covering of snow! I was grateful that we didn't have to brave the roads and drive home in the bad weather.
The snow made me almost giddy! Seriously, I LOVE snow and since it doesn't fall much here in our neck of the woods, snow is a real treat. Mark and I threw some snowballs, took some pictures, ate some snow, and enjoyed standing under the flakes. There's nothing like a glistening blanket of snow over the yard to ring in the new year....and of course, Jake got to happily play in it this morning.
Bring on 2011. I'm look forward to it!
