We went down to the Shakespeare Festival again on Saturday night. We had so much fun when we went in June that we decided to celebrate Mark's birthday with a trip to the festival. (Nobody panic, nobody panic, you didn't forget his birthday. Actually, Mark's birthday isn't until December 20th, but we celebrated early since the festival ends before December).
We had tickets to see "The Comedy of Errors" at the Elizabethan Stage (the outdoor theater). We had a lovely weekend planned for the two of us; however, our vision of the weekend did not include hundreds of gallons of rain! It literally poured rain all day Saturday in Ashland.
We were out and about downtown doing some shopping and stopped by the theater to ask about the evening performance. As we stood there, water dripping off our soaked bodies, the teen aged usher assured us that, "Yes, the play will go on tonight! They are only cancelled if the performance is dangerous for the actors or if there is lightening."
Great....
With this knowledge, we finished our shopping, went back to the hotel to dry off, and prepared for the night's play. We layered up in long sleeves and rain gear. Umbrella's were not allowed in the theater, but rain gear was; we didn't look pretty, but we were warm with extra layers of clothes to spare! (Mom, I finally chose warmth over fashion...does this mean I'm officially an adult?)
Oddly enough, the rain stopped just before the play. The stage was wet and the seats were wet, but nobody in the sold-out crowd had to endure fresh droplets (or buckets) during the production. We were extra lucky because our seats happened to be under the balcony....they were completely dry and if it had rained during the play, we would have been 100% covered.
The play was great, the weekend was fun despite the rain, and we're now familiar with another work of Shakespeare!

Ah! At last! Warmth over pretty has always been my motto.
Glad you are enjoying Shakesphere -another grown up indicater. It happens to most of us at some point - but you'll still always be our baby!
Love you, Mom
VERY grown up of you!

Ah the rain of Oregon...one thing I do not miss about living there. It sounds like you all had a great time. Happy early birthday to Mark!!!
