Utah and Yellowstone 2010

We recently returned from a brief excursion to Utah. The reason for the trip was my Grandpa's 90th birthday celebration. The family threw a little party for him at The Lodge at Maddox in Perry. Grandpa was surrounded by family and friends alike and we all enjoyed a fantastic meal. After the party the Purcell's and the Bunderson's gathered at Aunt Peggy's house in Brigham City for professional pictures. Since our last big photo session we have gathered more spouses (or different ones) and more children, so an update was needed. Those photos are not yet ready, but I anxiously await them. It was so much fun to be with everyone again. If memory serves correctly it had been more than 5 years since we were ALL last together...

After Grandpa's celebration, we all packed up and headed toward our family cabin just outside of West Yellowstone. Five families and three babies made for some interesting/sleepless nights, but it really wasn't that bad. I actually enjoyed it all except for the night that it was Jake's turn to keep everyone awake...There is nothing worse than the stress of feeling like you (or your child) are the ones causing everyone else distress. Grrr. Oh well, as my cousin Lisa said, "You have to have one horrible night when traveling"! All in all it was a successful trip. We arrived at the cabin on Father's Day and stayed for 3 nights. Mark and I took Jake into Yellowstone on my birthday (the big 31), and we all just did our own thing.

There were trips on the canoe, outings on the boat, some fishing, some exploring, game nights, puzzles, LOADS of excellent cooking, and of course, visiting. I will forever cherish the memories made during this trip to the cabin because my heart aches knowing how long it will be be before we all get together again.

Beautiful Emily! Enjoyed the pictures and the writing. Hopefully, we won't wait so long for the next family get together. My cousin Lorita, her husband Dwayne and granddaughter Abbie were here Friday evening for dinner. We decided it had been in the 80's since we had seen each other. Way too long!
