Counter Tops

Well, the counter top installer is here as I write (type). However, we have a problem (grrrr). One of the counters is scratched and needs to be reordered. He has actually been here all day working (oh wait, he was an hour late) and is doing what he can despite the scratched top and his amazing turtle-like speed. We told him having water was a must at the end of the day. We've not had access to a kitchen sink for almost 2 weeks. Doing dishes in the bathroom is not very appealing or sanitary in my opinion. The installer talked with the business we purchased from and the plan is to put everything up (not seal it all) but at least install it for functional purposes, then redo it when the new counter comes in. The problem with all of this, despite the frustration and inconvenience, is our vacations. We leave for Seattle tomorrow! When we come home from Washington, we'll be here for a day before loading up again, taking Ryan to the airport in Portland, and heading to Utah. Now our counters won't actually be finished until sometime mid August just before the floor is replaced. I can only imagine what will go wrong with that project!
I can now sympathize with Mark's level of frustration with remodeling....someone remind me why we (I) thought this was a good idea????
