However, because we drove 3 hours to Portland for the show, we also had to drive 3 hours home. We did not get back to Roseburg until 12:30ish this morning. Jim (the cabinet installer) was here at 8 a.m. You can only imagine just how tired we are (and sore) after 3 days of physical labor plus a significant lack of sleep!
The concert was awesome! I kept telling Mark that I could not believe I was actually watching a former Beatle. (Those who know me well know what a Beatle fan I am)...So, before I die, I now have to see Paul McCartney in concert! (I also have to see a bear in Yellowstone before I would be willing to die. I've only been there a million times and have NEVER seen a bear. It's not fair, but I suppose that means I am not yet ready to kick the bucket). I digress- back to the concert...
The show was phenomenal. This is Ringo singing Yellow Submarine:
As I mentioned at the beginning of this post, Ringo was with his All Starr Band. The All Starr Band included the following members: Colin Hay, Billy Squier, Hamish Stuart, Edgar Winter, Gary Wright, and Gregg Bissonette.
The venue was packed. There were literally thousands of people there, which made for some interesting people watching. Actually, any event in which there are thousands of people and alcohol makes for interesting people watching. There are always a few people who stand out. Obviously, these people stand out for various reasons that aren't always positive. There was a male/female couple (I have to clarify the couple's gender because this is Oregon, after all) who was particularly obnoxious and drunk. They were several rows ahead of us, but directly ahead of us. They insisted on standing (and dancing) almost throughout the entire concert. They were not attractive to look at, nor were they talented dancers. I took this brief video of them to show you how coordinated they were, however, this video does not do them justice. The highlight with this couple was when the female took off her shirt (yes, I said took off her shirt. I believe there was some sort of bikini top on amidst the fat rolls) and used it to wipe off the sweat of her male companion's face. Capturing that moment would have been priceless, however, I was too busy dry heaving!
There was also a woman (I would guess in her 60's) near us that danced rather provocatively. We decided she was a stripper in her younger days. This video doesn't do her "sexy" moves justice, but I think you can see what I'm trying to describe. She was behind her man the whole time using him as a pole! (Turn your head at an angle to watch this one).
Ringo is a great performer and we immensely enjoyed the other artists.
