Kitchen Remodel Underway....

I am slow to post this week because we are in the midst of a kitchen remodel. We started emptying the cupboards Wednesday night and bright and early Thursday started demolition. There are no adequate words to describe what we have found behind the poor, sagging cupboards that used to occupy our kitchen. To begin with, there was no wall behind the cupboards! What we used to store our dishes in were simply nailed to 2x4s (and only partial ones at that). Needless to say, we've rebuilt the wall (don't worry, a friend helped)! We found brick behind one wall, a petrified mouse, and dozens of razorblades. Anyhow, we've also been tearing up the floor only to find that the kitchen floor is built up a good half inch higher than the rest of the flooring in the house.

After 2 1/2 days of hard work, and tomorrow to still get through, I don't have a creative bone in my body to write an entertaining description of our experiences so far, nor do I have the energy to transfer the pictures we've been taking of this project for your viewing pleasure. The installer is coming at 8am Monday morning to begin. I know we'll be pleased with the end result, but right now it's difficult to focus on the prize.
Look for remodel updates in future posts!
