Back From the Dead??

I've been out of commission for about 2 weeks. It started with getting a head cold right after my maternity pictures. I even stayed home from work I felt so lousy. Then, I was lucky enough to come down with a common "pain in the butt" side effect of pregnancy....any guesses???
I have NEVER been in so much pain. I was literally able to do nothing, and I mean nothing, for 4 days; unless you count crying and whining, and rotating ice and heat packs. I did plenty of that. I even called my midwife twice over that weekend, in tears, begging for something to do or take that would make the pain go away. No luck- apparently it takes time to make that particular "pain in the butt" go away. Grrr...however, all is good now.

In the time I was out of commission, some major events happened:

1. My maternity pics. are ready! They are posted on the blog of Keri Blue Photography (look to the right under my blog roll). She has some of the pics. from the session posted there, but you'll have to scroll to find mine. I think it's titled Emily's Maternity Session. Anyhow, a whole gallery is posted under her online proofing section, but remember, I had pics. taken in the bra and panties (very, very brave for a 160+ pounder :) and they are not for everyone to see). I'll be sharing that password only with my most trusted friends and family members. If I have not shared it with you already, email me!

2. Mother's Day came and went. Yes, you could argue that I'm not technically a mother yet, but I'm down to less than a month before D-day, and my husband thinks of me as a mother already. Therefore, "Jake" gave me a very sweet mother's day card and bought me his bassinet- the one from our registry that I've been dying to get. It should arrive this week!!! Thanks Jake- I love you and can't wait to meet you! (And after the last 2 weeks, trust me, I'm more than ready to meet you).

3. Our 1 year anniversary also fell on Mother's Day. I can't believe a year has already passed since we tied the knot over at the coast. Better yet, I'm pleased to report that I'm still happily married. That may not be news worthy to those of you who have been married longer than I have, but remember, I was married before...for 5 years, and shortly after the one year mark things were not so good. But hey, I stuck it out for 4 more just to be sure. ;) In all seriousness, this marriage is nothing like my previous one. Mark and I are truly a team. He is my best friend and happens to be the most thoughtful man I know. He always does his best to make sure we're taken care of and happy. In fact, he and I call ourselves "Team Mac". We need to get T-shirts made that say this...maybe next year :)
I had great intentions for our anniversary. I wanted to use all of our wedding dishes for dinner and make the evening really special. However, I was still recuperating, and it was Mother's Day, so Mark wanted to spoil me. We wound up spending the day by going for a drive (the weather was beautiful), stopping at our favorite local fruit stand/bakery/nursery, spending way too much money on flowers, and then planting those flowers. Actually, Mark planted them. I can't bend over easily (okay, at all) so I told him where to dig and what to plant where. He was wonderful!
Then, we celebrated the anniversary part of the day by bbqing a steak dinner with baked potatoes, fresh strawberries, salad, and the works. Dinner was delicious! We even followed tradition and ate some of our wedding cake that we had frozen for this event-oddly enough, it didn't taste too bad! (The color was still hideous...see Wedding)
All in all, it was a great Mother's day and anniversary. I love you, Mark!
